Hi UUCO members and Friends,
A new week of Family Promise is coming up at our church, from August 20 to August 27. We will have an informative session this coming Sunday August 6th, in the Fellowship Hall, during coffee hour. The persons who volunteered during the first week can talk about what each job entails, and what their experiences were doing it. You will be able to sign up either online or on paper.
For the persons who have yet not volunteered, there will be a training session next Wednesday August 9, at 7:00 pm, at the church. During this session, you will learn about the rules that the guest families need to abide to, and the rules that we must follow, and helpful tips based on our first week of hosting.
Family Promise has been helping several families, already. A couple of them have come off the program having jobs and moving into apartment. Raquel da Silva, the FP executive director, want to convey the families’ gratitude at being supported during such hard time. She always mentions that the program would not exist without your support. So, thank you, again, to all the volunteers.
Our next Family Promise host week is coming up August 20th to 27th.
While this is sooner than we anticipated, there is good reason for it. Several other churches dropped out just prior to the Family Promise launch. The remaining churches are stepping in to help the families while FP works on recruiting and training new congregations. After August, we are not slated to host until October; as the new churches are trained, we will be able to come back in line with our once per quarter scheduling.

Thank you again for volunteering. Your help and companionship are very much appreciated and has made a difference in people’s lives.
