To me, UUCO can be best summed up with two words that are quite often used here: beloved community. I love the community I’ve found here at UUCO.
Of course one of the biggest reasons is the wonderful friendships I’ve made, but it’s more than just that. It’s also the way this community challenges me to keep learning and growing. It gives me opportunities to serve others in way that I wouldn’t get to otherwise and doing things that I’m not always completely comfortable doing. At least at first. In addition to that, It is amazing to join with a group that considers intellectual growth a part of their worship. I love learning something new from a sermon or Religious Exploration class. The range of topics that are discussed here always keeps me on my toes. We can go from talking about the intricacies of honesty to histories of social justice movements to having a Broadway sing-along. I never know exactly what I’m going to get whenever I step into the UUCO building.
More than anything, I know that there are people here who’ve got my back whatever may come up. I treasure the memories I and my family have made and hope to be able to share our joys and sorrows for years to come.
